Positive Youth Justice Initiative - Sierra Health Foundation has launched an initiative to improve the outcomes of young people with a history in the child welfare system who are now engaged in the juvenile justice system ("crossover youth"). Through the Positive Youth Justice Initiative, SHF has provided grant funding for six California counties that are developing plans to change the way their counties work with these young people. We'll find out what these different plans are and how they can help these "crossover youth" have better futures.
Ghidotti Early College High School - Imagine having most of your general education college credits completed before you even begin your first semester (or quarter) at a university. In our occasional series on alternative education programs we're taking a look at Ghidotti Early College High School in Grass Valley. Students at Ghidotti attend college classes concurrently with their high school classes and they can even earn an AA or AS degree before graduating high school if they work hard. Plus, books and tuition are fully paid for by the school. We're speaking with the school's principal Melissa Madigan.

Carpentry for Women (and Men) - Camille LeVassuer has several workshops going on this spring and summer teaching women and men the skills and knowledge of carpentry. We'll speak about Camille's history of her own carpentry past and why we have a new generation of people eager to learn this invaluable skill.
